As a university student, the assignment plays a essential role in our grades. Unlike the final examination, it focuses on testing the actual practice and the profound comprehension on a specific topic. Hence normally involves the sophisticated construction of an essay, which contributes more than 40% of our overall result. If we want to achieve a decent mark in the unit, it is important for us to master the technique to write an assignment efficiently and effectively.

Similar as other projects, we must define our goal before we start. It is very straight forward, which is to gain the maximum grade. In order to reach this aim, we have to understand the subsidiary objective, what does the assignment indicated us to explain. The topic and the detailed statement in the assignment instruction represent this requirement. We need to fully comprehend it, because it is the fundamental guideline, which should be followed by us through the essay.

Right after we determined the goal, we would continue to work on the structure of the assignment. In my perspective, there are three core factors need to be noticed. That is the time, form and marking standard of the assignment. As their literal meaning, the time is the deadline of submission plus our estimated working period of the task. It is common that we will have multiple assignments converge in the same term, so we have to make sure to allocate sufficient time on each of them. In addition, the assignment may require to be accomplished in various forms. For instance, it can be an individual or group assignment and can either be an essay or class representation. Different formats of the objective evaluate our knowledge on the diverse basis, which leads to the most important factor, the marking standard. Fortunately, the Australian higher education standards introduced the benchmark of Threshold Learning Standard (TLS). It stated the regulation of conduct to ensure the quality of education in university. The university will develop its own graduate/unit learning outcomes according to the TLS, thereby our assignment will be graded by it. Recalling that our goal as obtaining high marks, therefore, we must complete the task corresponding to the specific requirement of this grading system. The score distribution will be emphasized in the assessment standard paper, so our first step is to read it and fulfill all terms listed in our work.

The last thing worth to mention about is the referencing in the assignment. Due to the rule of plagiarism and collusion, we must provide the source of quotations and references. It is critical that we follow the format of referencing corresponding to the faculty of the unit. To illustrate, the business subject would use the Harvard style of reference, but the faculty of law require students to adopt the AGLC rule. It is crucial for us to meet the requirement of the regulations; otherwise, our essay will face the risk of being an invalid output.

Nevertheless, the tips provided above will only assist us to work more efficiently on the process of creating the assignment. However, the quality of the outcome will still depend on our endeavor and knowledge.
